Day 3 and today we are making a Rail Fence Block. (Noticed the pattern yet?)

The Rail Fence block is  great one for beginners as there are no seams to match when it comes to joining them.

You will need three pieces of fabric, each piece measuring 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. You can use two or three colours, or a plain/patterned or light/dark combination.

Sew the three pieces together along the long edge using 1/4″ seam allowance.

Press.

Check block measures 61/2″ square and trim if necessary.

Please note-I say railroad in the video, it should be rail fence

When making more than one block, you lay them at 90 degrees to each other as demonstrated in the video.

That’s day three done, which block do you think it will be tomorrow?  Come back to find out if you were right.

If you’ve missed it you will find the previous blocks here:
