New year, new website and new to blogging.

Quick Introduction, my name is Sarah Wickett and I’m a quilterholic. I am also a wife, mother and granny, but more about that another time.

My approach to patchwork and quilting is “like a headless chicken”. I have many UFO’s, a list of “quilts to make before I die” that is so long that I will live forever. Sounds familiar I am sure.

So where did this obsession start. My younger sister dragged me along to a class with her around 12 years ago, that was it for me, I was hooked, she on the other hand lasted about a year. I fell in love with the whole process, from fabric selection, cutting, piecing and finally quilting.

My first quilt

Now fast forward 12ish years, I am the proud owner of a Handi Quilter Longarm. Early last year I started quilting for others and Ambleside Quilting was born.

Never one to do anything by halves my first proper customer quilt was a fantastic 365 day quilt made by the very talented Christine Galley. A custom quilting design that took over 50 hours, and the pressure was on as it was being exhibited at Festival of quilts.

So what now, well I have decide that 2018 is the year I challenge myself. Get all those UFO’s done, use my stash faster than I replace it, get better at piecing and points, learn new techniques, do more workshops, go on my first retreat and improve my quilting.

First project on the list has already been started. I am partaking in a Quilt along on Instragram Hosted by #cutandalter. The fabric is all from my stash (all 40 fat quarters). I have had the pattern for a couple of years so this one will be ticked of the “to do” list.

Follow me in the coming months, see the good, the bad and the downright ugly, join me in my challenges and above all message me, tell me all about your challenges for 2018 and we can enjoy the journey together.
