I expect quite a few of us sell at Craft Fayres and what better time to do this than at Xmas, when we know everyone will be Xmas shopping.

A few years ago our local museum invited me to sell some of my patchwork products at their annual xmas fayre. I jumped at the chance and set about making some small items ready for the stalls.

This fayre runs for a few months over the Xmas period and this suits me very well, as you just need to take them along in November and leave them on display until January for the visitors to buy, so no hanging around all day long, hoping you get a sale. I hear of so many crafters who get very disillusioned after they have spent so much time, effort and expense making things and have to take them all back home at the end of a long tiring day, hardly making a sale.

I keep the items small, to keep the cost down and knowing that folk are not willing to pay much for hand made gifts…sound familiar?

So…bags…cushions…table centres..novelties like Xmas mice..keyrings to name a few… were all labelled and priced and carried off in large boxes and just left to the museum staff to display. I just pop in occasionally to see how things are selling and in January I go and pick up the unsold stock. Of course they take a good commission, but I’m more than happy with that, apart from supporting our local museum, there’s no wasted time hanging around. The unsold items just get stored in a box ready for the next sale, which reminds me, it’s nearly time to add some more items for this Xmas.

I love scouting the web, especially Pinterest, for Xmas ideas and inspiration. I love making up and writing patterns, to sell in my ‘shop’ on  https://ukqu.co.uk/

Xmas Mice

These were especially popular…Xmas Mice…stuffed with a few crushed cloves and placed on a warm radiator for a wonderful Xmassy aroma.

A lot of you bought this pattern to make for your Xmas stalls, I hope they sold well too.

Or Lavender Mice…a little larger, stuffed with some dried lavender…for a reminder of our beautiful summer.

Lavender Mice

The little clove pockets are popular too, very quick and easy to make, ideal for Fayres.

These items, and many more, can be found in my shop…
