I have just returned home from a fabulous show at Springfields in Spalding Lincolnshire. It’s always a highlight of my quilting year, a lovely friendly show with lots of great traders who are always friendly and willing to help. The venue is easily accessible, lots of seating, reasonably priced for entry and a great choice of workshops.

The quilts on show are amazing too, there is a great selection of different styles and genres. I adored the pets quilts on show, it’s got me thinking how I could do my ginger cat. I attended with my friend, we go to many shows together and always have a great time, we got onto two workshops we were hoping to do. We have tried needle felting, made a lovely landscape. Then we attended a Abbie Ann Searle workshop where we learnt how to quilt a small table topper. Abbie was lovely, she gave lots of advice, took time to explain things to us again when we didn’t understand. It was one of the best workshops I have attended, I learnt more in that hour than I have learnt in a long time, to some it may seem like little tips but to me it was valuable knowledge. I will be finishing that top soon for my own house.

If you get the chance to attend the show go check out Abbie Ann’s stall where you can see a new ukqu quilt hanging, it is very striking and beautiful.
As usual I brought more fabric than my list required, picked up some bargains and chatted to many traders. I save all year for festival of quilts and today saw I few quilts I’m considering before we go in August. My haul is something I am proud of this year. There’s a gift in there for my sisters big upcoming birthday, I did hope to get a fat quarter with electric guitars on but no luck today, but it will soon be festival of quilts.
