The title is quite intriguing. I didn’t quite know what to expect.

I am somebody who is inspired by fabrics, so I would love to know what this book is about

When I received this lovely book for review, the first thing I noticed when I opened the package is the incredible soft velvety touch of the cover.

It makes you want to stroke it whenever you see it. Amazing!

But as they say “Don’t judge a book by its cover”

The book has six chapters , each devoted to a certain aspect of cloth.

Cloth, according to the dictionary: a fabric formed by weaving, felting, etc., from wool, hair, silk, flax, cotton, or other fiber, used for garments, upholstery, and many other items.

The writer shares their own experience and insights of working with fabrics made from natural fibres, especially second-hand or vintage materials. The book is illustrated with lots of beautiful photos.

There are little exercises you can do yourself to experiment with cloth, techniques, composition and colour and even a little bling.

She also introduces the work of many other artists. I must admit I only knew of one of them, Caroline Bartlett. It surely invites to look up the artists on the internet and see more of their work.

This is a book to come back to many times. To read a bit, to do an experiment, to enjoy the examples of excellent artwork. To be inspired to make Art yourself.
