with boughs of Holly. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la.

And Yes, Deck the Halls is this stunning Christmas fabric range from Makower for Christmas 2019, and is available in retailers in the UK now.

If you like traditional fabrics, then this is the range for you.  And if you like a bit of sparkle then this is it, every one in this range has gold printed on it.

I love Christmas fabrics, and decorating the house up for Christmas, so couldn’t wait to make something with this.  My original plan was to make 6 placemats.  After making 12 pinwheels from the Cream and Red, I then changed my mind.  Like many of my projects what starts as an idea in my head and a few scribbles on paper it evolved into something else.  Obviously in this case it remained Christmassy.

Now, so often when you buy fabric with gold print on it, the gold soon loses its shine under the iron.  Ironing this Makower fabric made no difference to that gold print, it was as shiny as ever.  And Makower cottons are lovely quality, so crisp and easy to iron and press.

Back to what I made, well I decided on a table centre.  If you want to make this it’s easy enough to do.

For the squares you need to cut them 4½” square (these will finish at 4″)

For the pinwheels – first you need to make half square triangles, I made these small they were 1½” finished, you then need to sew 4 of them together to make a pinwheel, which will be 2½”.  On to the pinwheel you add borders, first one piece of fabric (1½” x 2½”) onto each side, then sew a piece of fabric (1½” x 4½”) to each of the other sides, you should then have a square measuring 4½”.  I arranged my squares 7 by 7.  You could do less or more depending on what size you want.

I hope you will all go out and add this fabric to your stash, as it is one not to miss, and I can see it selling out well before Christmas.

And if you want to see more of Makower, got and take a look at their website, and grab yourself some free patterns too.

With thanks to Makower and UKQU for allowing me to play with this fabric.  I will be buying more.
