Hello, new blogger alert here. No idea what I’ve got myself into but hope you will enjoy the ride as much as I will. The only plan I have is to try and share my stitching/quilting journey with you all each month. I add the word stitching to quilting as I cannot align myself with the amazing expert Quilters within this group. And, this is the important part, I will not be blogging alone. Ever since I have been stitching regularly I have had a companion, watching and helping and yes, mainly interfering in all that I do. May I introduce you to him, Gulliver,

Gulliver will insist on being in at least one of my projects each month., he is known to try all sorts of new things, I’m sure you will soon get used to his antics.

My go to techniques are whole cloth, appliqué and free motion stitching. I regularly hand stitch as well as machine stitch.

A piece often starts with an idea and materials and techniques follow. I regularly use up-cycled cloth and very often not cotton, ( ………ducks, or maybe that should be gulls!!) I love using fabrics that have had a previous life, they seem to bring added meaning to a piece.

This small  journal quilt, drawn by my son aged 6, (now 35) contains small snippets of childhood fabric such as pyjamas  which makes the  piece even more special.

So Gulliver and I welcome you all to our new blog in this New Year, I hope we can bring something of interest for you each month, but for now

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

See you in 2019
