At the beginning of 2018 https://ukqu.co.uk/ was launched and I jumped in head first to join the talented bunch of Blogarati, but soon to learn that we wouldn’t be eligible to enter the many competitions that are arriving on this brilliant website https://ukqu.co.uk/competition-corner/
We were all a bit disappointed so UKQU team soon realised they would need to keep us happy by arranging a special competition, especially for us, #orderoftheneedle. A monthly competition and the person with the most ‘likes’ from the UKQU FB group, wins.
The first #orderoftheneedle in March was to make a postcard of our favourite method of quilting…thinking caps were firmly put on!
I had never done a postcard size quilt before and not much fmq so was up for the challenge….I decided to go for humour.
The term ‘fat quarters’ has always raised a smile on faces so I worked around this idea.

The little quilt received over 400 votes, I was a little overwhelmed and thanked them all for voting.
Lots of quilters enjoyed the craic (no pun intended) and I was happy it put a lot of smiles on their faces, mission accomplished!
There were some great entries, although I think some were put off by the ‘selfie’ idea.
A few quilters were interested in making one for their sewing room so I was encouraged to put the pattern on the market and you can find it here…..

A few weeks later I was delighted to receive the Order of the Needle along with a beautiful award, which I have framed and it hangs proudly in my little workroom.

Our next challenge is #orderoftheneedle#2 fqs, and basically this involves making an item using 2fqs.
My entry is in and you can find the pattern for this fun make tissue box holder here…

I hope all the bloggers/admins will rise to the challenge, I am certainly going to try and hold onto the ‘needle’…but who’s going to snatch it away?
