I recently had the pleasure of attending a workshop at the swift quilting company shop, owned and run by the sewing quarter demonstrator Emma Bradford. The workshop I was attending with a friend was blossom and blooms bicycle quilt, which we had seen on sewing quarter. This bright beautiful piece is very different to pieces I usually make.

Prior to the workshops, once booked in Emma ensured we received the pattern and the requirement list. The pattern was of exceptional quality with lovely photographs. Emma took time to sit down with us over a cup of tea in her shop to discuss the preparation she recommended for the workshop and we had a lovely catch up with her.

During the workshop we followed Emma’s instructions, we began to make the background, I was very unsure about this but put my faith in Emma and followed her detailed instructions. The backing was amazing, something I will definitely do again for another project!

All the ladies on the workshop were lovely, we helped each other and had a lovely day chatting. We all managed to complete the backing before lunch, and apply the appliqué bicycle before the end of the day. I was very unsure about a few of the techniques in this workshop, the weaving of the basket was explained clearly and came together very quickly.

If your in the south Lincolnshire or north Cambridgeshire area the swift quilting company is well worth a visit the shop is well stocked with beautiful fabrics and sewing notions. Emma is lovely, always enthusiastic and she offers great  advice. The shop is situated near a farm shop stocking local fresh produce.
