Many quilters will have heard the news by now that the long-standing UK quilting magazine, Popular Patchwork, closed a month ago with the June 2018 issue being their last issue. It was a sad day when the announcement was made as both Popular Patchwork and British Patchwork & Quilting magazine, of which I am Editor, were the first quilting magazines in the UK and we have enjoyed a good rivalry for more than a quarter of a century!

And while it is sad that another magazine has bitten the dust, all is not lost for Pop Patch readers as at P&Q we are taking on many of their commissioned projects including a new Mystery Quilt designed by Stuart Hillard together with his monthly column in each issue. We will also be featuring a new block of the month starting in January 2019 designed by Louisa Goult of Sewmotion. So plenty to look forward to!

We’ve taken the opportunity of this merging of our titles to refresh our look as well as take on board some of Pop Patch’s styling. Scroll down if you’d like to take a sneak peek of our new cover which doesn’t go on sale until next Friday. We are really excited about what the future has in store for us!

Onwards and upwards indeed!

July  2018 issue of P&Q
