Hi…I’m Lyn…I am a ‘silver stitcher’ as well as a ‘silver surfer’.

I am retired, living with hubby in a 17c cottage in a rural Oxfordshire village. We downsized a couple of years ago and live near our three lovely daughters and their other halves. We have three beautiful granddaughters.

When we downsized there wasn’t any spare room for sewing so we planned and had built a sewing studio at the bottom of the garden. This is my little sanctuary  and because I’m up with the lark,I like nothing better than watching the dawn break while I make.

My patchwork journey started 18 years ago when we took early retirement and moved to the West country to ‘live the dream’ with our ponies, dogs and cats. There we were welcomed by our new neighbours, who are still our best friends, and was introduced to this all consuming hobby, and I was hooked.

Over the following years I ventured into watercolour painting, but was always drawn back into patchwork, especially after discovering UKQU where I found loads of inspiration and friendliness.

We eventually moved back ‘home’ to be nearer to the family and to witness the exciting times of the arrival of our three granddaughters…I was kept very busy making quilts etc.

Theses days I like to make smaller items…and enjoy bag making and incorporating some patchwork into my patterns.I love art deco designs and am currently working on some designs that lends itself to stained glass technique.

I started a patchwork group at my local WI and entered a WI Makower Challenge…more of that to come!
