It may be getting chillier and soon we’ll see the leaves turn golden and red, but the book for October takes us back to summer time and we get to know one fiercely independent older lady, an incredibly busy socialite and a grieving young mother. Three generations of the same family, but they have never been close, and they definitely don’t really know each other.

The book for October is called Wedding Ring and was written by Emilie Richards. It is the first in the Shenandoah Album series.

Reluctantly thrown together over the summer, each of them with their own struggles in the past and present, Richards has managed to create a compelling story. Not always easy to read for personal reasons and sometimes I felt like shouting at the characters to get a grip, but all in all an enjoyable read.

Be sure to have access to the internet so you can look up the various quilt patterns that are mentioned; there were quite a few which were new to me!
