Happy New Year to you. My Christmas decorations are all down and after finishing the end of year paperwork its now time to make plans for 2019. I have quite a few projects that I didn’t get finished before the holidays – at least the Christmas ones will be early for next year!
My special personal project is planning a quilt to be ready in time for the arrival of my first grandchild! Drawing is already underway and I look forward to sharing it with you in the future, but for now it’s top secret.
2018 was an amazing year for our community sewing group Sew4Linus. Our fabulous volunteers stitched their way through a total of 561 quilts, making a grand total of 1397 in 3 years – a fantastic acheivement for a small group. As well as continuing to donate quilts through our local hospital, a new outlet is to the Young Carers in our area. Some of these children are as young as four years of age and have so many responsibilities and with very few personal possessions.
The feedback we have received from parents makes it all worthwhile and I would encourage anyone to make a quilt for charity – there are so many groups out there that need your support. Sewing as part of a group is really rewarding and it’s a great way to make new friends.
