Why Gulliver needs a No Deal Brexit.
Firstly I’d like to apologise for starting my blog this month with the B word. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite subject and to be honest I’d rather not be discussing it here. However I’ve recently been made aware that possible outcomes relating to Brexit negotiations could have a significant impact on our well-loved Gulliver’s future. Now I know what your thinking, but no, it’s not to do with hard borders or free movements because as you know Gulliver, being a seagull, is free to fly happily wherever he chooses. Of course he can continue to do so, however it transpires that if we do end up with Teresa May’s deal, due to a rather unscrupulous Belgian seagull, Gulliver will have to continue his travels under a new name. ‘Gulliver de moedige’, from Antwerp, Belgium, is an imposter of sorts, a poor impersonation of our loveable rogue and due to EEC copyright legislation, will in fact have the legal right to strip our beloved Gulliver of his name. And so it is with great sadness that I am having to launch an appeal to re-name our feathered friend, my hands are tied and before you ask, I have already looked into possible avenues to avoid this outcome, but these have all proved fruitless. I even considered taking this issue to the European Court of Justice but I then thought to myself, what would Gulliver want? Would he want me to spend money, time and efforts fighting this? I believe no, for what’s in a name? A bird by any other name would be as cute.

So please, I need your help. I cannot possibly begin to rename Gulliver alone, this lies heavy in my heart and more than ever I need your support. Please get in touch via comments with your thoughts and suggestions for a new name for Gulliver. I know this will be a distressing time for you all and if preferred you can submit your suggestions using our anonymous helpline, this can be found at renameourfriendgulliver.com.
This sequence of events has been a shock to us all and of course Gulliver himself is up in the air.
