In the third part of my series of tutorials on making this lovely curved English paper-pieced flower cushion, I’m going to show you how to hand appliqué your pieced ring onto the fat quarter of background fabric using a tiny slip stitch. The edges of the flower are already turned under and nicely pressed, making this needle-turn technique pretty easy going. Click below to watch this video tutorial.

If you missed the first part of my tutorial covering the fussy-cutting and glue-basting, click here to read the blog post, and you can then move onto the second part here, which covers the hand piecing using a flat whip stitch. Free templates for this project are available in my shop here, where you will also find a couple of kits for these cushions, one in the Red Rose featured in this tutorial, and the other in lovely soft Liberty blues, so if you just can’t find the right fabric to fussy-cut in your own stash, why not treat yourself to a kit?

I know a lot of you have downloaded the templates to make this cushion, I would love to know how you’re getting on, leave a comment below, or better yet post a pic on the UKQU Facebook page, remembering to tag @Sewmotion or @LouisaGoult so I can see it. Next month, we finish off the cushion front with some beautiful hand quilting.
