I was asked to review fabric.  Woohoo, I’m sure we all know how it feels to be waiting for a parcel of fabric.  So exciting.  I had no idea what was going to drop through the letter box.

And then the day arrived, a brown envelope arrived and it was quickly ripped open.  I was not disappointed, I had 20 squares of Modern Retro by Makower.  Now what to make to show this fabric off to you all.  The ideas were flowing, I could simply make full use of them by simply joining them all together and making a lap quilt, but I didn’t want to do that, how would you be able to see them all in a little photo?

I settled on making a bag, a make up type zipper bag.  I found a pattern ( a freebie ) by so-sew-easy.com , the quick cosmetic bag. I think it was a 30 minute project!  Sounds easy.  Now to figure out how to get lots of different fabrics into the pattern.

Aren’t the colours and designs stunning.  If you want this fabric range I recommend it, something for everyone in this Modern Retro by Makower.  The fabric is wonderful quality cotton, the printing is great, the patterns straight with the weave, what more could you want!

The dotty fabric was used for the lining (left over from a project in 1988!), and the Gutterman cotton thread was the perfect match for a bit of quilting on it.

I only managed to get 16 of the 20 fabrics into this bag because I wanted to show the fabrics off to their best so the bigger patterns had to be bigger pieces.  But I’m really looking forward to working more with this fabric range, and Makower fabrics.  It was so nice to have a full range of coordinated pieces.
