So, last time, we made simple crosses, and this time, a few extra ideas…
This time, I started with a background square, but I made a strip from three pieces, two white and one red. As before, I cut the square about 1-1/2 inches bigger than the desired final block (so, for a 5-inch finshed block, I cut 6-1/2 inches square
Join the three bits, and press to the darker colour…
Cut this pieced strip in half
Trim the pieced strip roughly to the size of the background square.
Lay one piece of the pieced piece on top of your square and cut a gentle curve through both. Right Sides Up, please!
Discard the little sliver, then sew the right-hand background square piece to the right side of the pieced strip, right sides together, with a small stitch, an even seam, and sloooowly…
Lay your left half on top, and cut the curve again, matching nicely. Sew as for the other side, and press…
Turn, repeat, trim…
Oh, look, a nice cross-in-a-cross
Now, here, some parallel (ish) lines instead of crosses, and one with two each way, and one with two lines next to each other..
