I was delighted to receive 20 x 8″ squares of this beautiful Christmas fabric to make whatever I liked with and to give a review of it. Santa Express is a bright, colourful Christmas fabric range by Makower Uk. I am already a fan of Makower, so was really looking forward to it. I was not disappointed!
I thought about doing a Christmas stocking, but really wanted to showcase each of the fabrics in the range so decided on a baby quilt/play mat. I thought it would make an ideal present for a new arrival before Christmas. It could also be used as a wall hanging or on a sofa to bring the Christmas spirit to your home.
The fabric was so good to work with, excellent quality and it didn’t fray at all. I love the bright fabrics – perfect for children’s projects! I used some red Makower Uk Spraytime for the sashing and a solid white for the border. The quilt top came together really quickly, in just an afternoon. The quilting and binding I did in the evening. I used all of the 20 squares, the finished size 33″ x 40″.
I’d certainly recommend ‘Santa Express’, I’ll definitely buy it when it hits the shops. I’m picturing all sorts of projects with it, like gift bags, and Christmas stockings and perhaps a larger quilt for an older child.
Also included in the range are some really nice fabric panels, a large stocking panel and an advent calendar, which I’m sure my grandchildren will love.
