It’s been a rather hectic few weeks with packing, weddings and a dose of Covid.  Precious sewing time in the studio has been very limited. You will remember last time, I shared with you the beautiful Bluebell Wood fabric range from Lewis & Irene. I would have loved to share a finished quilt with you, but I’ve just had time to work with three of the designs.
After a bit of pondering, I decided I fancied doing a disappearing nine patch quilt. It’s been quite a while since I’ve made one. As the fabric range has three variations of each design, it just seemed to fit. This is the first group of fabrics I’ve used.

I cut the original squares 3″ square and trimmed the nine patch block to 8 1/2″ square. For the disappearing nine patch, I cut the block in half horizontally and vertically. I played around with the pieces and decided on the following layout.

The resulting block was then trimmed to 7″ square which will mean my finished blocks will be 6 1/2″ when I come to joining them together.
I’m really loving this fabric and and am ready to make a start on the next three fabrics. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before I have something to show you. Enjoy your sewing time and I’ll be back soon.
I hope we get to see the final piece; it looks lovely.
I’m still working on it, I’ll definitely share it with you
