Hi Everyone
It’s been a rather hectic few weeks, you may remember in a previous blog I mentioned that I’m designing a Block of the Month which will be launched on the website in a couple of months. It’s all very exciting, but it’s also quite a responsibility when you are given free rein to use a range of fabric as you wish. A lovely package of Makower fabrics and shade cards arrived a few weeks ago so that I could choose which ones I wanted to use in the quilt.
What do you do when someone is kind enough to send you samples of an entire range of gorgeous fabrics…. (apart from stroke them that is), it would be rude not to use as many as possible don’t you think? Decisions, decisions, we quilters have such a hard life don’t you think?

I’ve had a few designs rattling around in my head for a while and finally decided on the one I want to go for. That was relatively easy, next I had to draw it…. It’s going to be nine blocks plus borders, so what did I do, I drew 12 blocks.
Cue several days (okay, maybe quite a lot of days) procrastinating over which three to exclude. I asked a few people, and they each chose a different block to omit, they were no help whatsoever, the choice had to be mine. Eventually I decided which three to leave out, but, I’m happy to have a few designs on hand as the starting point of another quilt.
I’m sure I need to plant a tree to compensate for the amount of paper I used while drawing these blocks.

You’ll notice that I still haven’t told you what I’m doing. I’m still not going to let you in on the secret yet, but suffice to say it’s appliqué, and those of you who know me won’t be surprised to find out that there might just be a few dragonflies appearing here and there. There may also be a few butterflies making an appearance.

The fabrics I’ve chosen have arrived and the quilt is underway. The fabrics are gorgeous, I’ve chosen to use the Bijoux range from Makower, they are really lovely soft colours. Very different to my usual choice of fabrics, but I’m really enjoying working with them.

I’m looking forward to sharing photographs of the completed quilt with you soon, in the meantime you might a sneak peak of one of the blocks

Next time I’ll share some more of the quilt with you, thanks for joining me once again.
Happy stitching
Carol
