PROJECT LINUS – STOCKTON ON TEES

Public Group active 8 years, 2 months ago

“A QUILT IS A HUG YOU CAN KEEP”

    https://m.facebook.com/LinusStockton1/

Marjorie Cook and Irene Carter are the co-ordinators for Project Linus Stockton on Tees and surrounding areas. Together with Roz Elliott, Dianne Morrison and Rita White, they run a monthly quilting workshop – Sew4Linus – sharing their combined skills to new quilters. Marjorie is also the regional co -ordinator for the North East and Cumbria.

Project Linus originated in America, December 1995 when Karen Loucks saw a newspaper article showing how much a comfort blanket had helped a child cancer victim and decided to organise blankets for her local children’s cancer unit and started spreading the word. Since that time over 3,000,000 blankets and quilts have been delivered worldwide.

Project Linus started in the UK in March 2000 as a result of a quilter’s desire to help children in need. It has now spread to cover most of the UK.Project Linus started in the UK in March 2000 as a result of a quilter’s desire to help children in need. It has now spread to cover most of the UK.

Sadly due to the Beast from the East we had to cancel our workshop last Friday, however we still delivered 63 quilts to North Tees Hospital Neonatal Unit & Children’s Ward 😀
