Just lovely. My daughter once worked in a bookshop too, so I recognise ‘those’ customers.

This article explains clearly, briefly, and with visual examples exactly what quilters strive to achieve. So often I hear people say, “ I don’t like that fabric”, but this shows that every fabric has a place: the skill is finding it. Thank you-I found it very helpful indeed.

My mum always said, “ Where there’s a will, there’s a way!” And you certainly prove that, Juliet. I can’t wait to see your work on it, so I really hope a machine comes up soon.

This sounds like a really exciting challenge, and is clearly enjoyed by many members. Our group is just starting a challenge involving wool, tweed and patchwork and/or quilting. Should be varied!

This is really interesting. I had seen the contrasting versions so it is really great to be able to read someone’s in-depth research. Thank you Sue!

I can see the rules only allow up to 42” but I can’t see a closing date or any other restrictions?

Lovely clear explanation. And a sure fire way of taking the fear out of curved piecing.

What a beautiful cat! I am so glad he us ok. A point well worth making….£900! I knew there was a reason I keep my cats out if the sewing room. Not to joke though-one of them sits on my footpedal, so they are banned.

I would never have thought of that, so very many thanks for a super tip!

Thank you! I have avoided this block because of the curved seams. I had not thought about my dressmaking skills making it easier. No holding me back now, then!

But scrap bags just beg you to do something different! I am in the middle of a birch tree quilt made with 3 scrap bags-tiny edges and selvedges cut off jelly rolly and charm packs. Very very cheap but lots of fun.

That sounds fabulous-I am so jealous! What a lovely trip. I am looking forward to hearing much more from you Ami: the enthusiasm for quilting shines through your writing.

Thank you! I should print this out and put it on my wall. I always forget something when I go to my sewing group. If it is not thread, it is needles, or binding, or templates….

YI am sure you will have a great time. Rescue Remedy gets me on planes…sheer cussedness makes me stay on them, despite the rising panic. Just keep to the 15 minutes. Then another 15..and so on

I am looking forward to part 2! Really succinct and well illustrated. I have often thought of doing this, now I have no excuse.
