Despite sewing for decades I had no idea how effective waxing thread is!

That is amazing! When I started reading your first part I envisaged a confetti technique. This is so much better: I must try Brusho. We had an eminent quilter visit my group who suggested acrylic mixed with textile medium is the answer to any questions.

That is really interesting and a lovely piece of work! An artist new to me, too.

She certainly made our lives easier. My mother never used an ironing board when we were growing up; she ironed on a pile of towels on a wooden side cupboard. I know which I prefer!

I agree that just picking ip something non-taxing is successful. With me, it us scraps or selvedge sewing.

What a brilliant idea! So often you just need some solid colours that do not reflect a design.

An admirable ideal for this jumbled year. I think mine should be “ finish”.

The Maths for this block are tricky. I even bought a book about it that didn’t help! I can see the ruler would be great.

I only have the 18”x16” one sadly. It would be lovely to have the big one.

Recently an ex-colleague asked me what she needed to start making quilts. An idea, a rotary cutter and a ruler, was my first reply. But of course, which ruler? Some of us use a 6×24” to cut bolt widths and strips. O…

How lovely. I know from experience how cathartic this form of grieving can be for you and the recipients.

So much nicer, colour based quilts. You are very disciplined.

I bought several sizes of the June Tailor rulers from the US during a visit there and I tried one on my return and I couldn’t get on with it. Some of them still have the plastic on them, I will probably detash them one day.
I tend to use my long ruler for most of my cutting now.

i have the 12×18, the 12×12, and one other smaller one. I can’t get to them as my sewing room is upside down right now

I bought my first June Taylor strip ruler 20 years ago on QVC! That one has since broken in two through much use. I have three more now, including the 1/4″ slot version. I use them almost exclusively now, my other rulers rarely get much ‘screen time’
