UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoFrances, whilst waiting for Arlene / Sylvia (the new Admins) to announce the next book, my suggestion for May is SEW DEADLY by Elizabeth Lynn Casey. It’s the first in a series of 12 (!) books.

UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoWould anyone like to Admin the book club discussions?
I am going to focus on the Facebook group, which is also where future books will be announced.
I have a murder mystery ready for May (first in a series of 10+ books!) and a historical fiction / women’s story for June. Lots of interesting books coming up! -

I can easily see how this post is a carry-on from my February post, which boiled down to ‘Use It Up’. Not only am I a ‘Fabriholic’, but I am a ‘Stationery Addict’ too – and have been for as long as I’ve been sew…

I enjoyed reading this Christine but, I should confess, my pleasure came (at least in part) from an increasing feeling that I might be relatively ‘normal’ 😉
-
This makes me feel better Ingrid – as it means that I also may be relatively ‘normal’ – although some may beg to differ!

Having just moved house and had to give away a lot of unused stationery, I think I could say I was a stationery addict too. I’ve recorded most of the things I have ever made for sale (patterns, making instructions, time taken, materials used, costs), but your blog has made me realise that there is so much more I could be doing with quilting notes. Thank you.
-
Thank you Corinne – good luck with the notes!

UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoSUGGESTED DISCUSSION POINTS, FROM THE AUTHOR –
There are prompts for discussion around the roles, relationships, quilt patterns (!), dealing with loss, and the effect of the journey from England might have us on Honor.
Feel free to commmet on any / all of these and see where it takes us. It’s such a thought provoking book that a good d…[Read more]

UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoJust started the book last night. Read 4 chapters – thoroughly enjoyed the book so far. The references to the quilts are good. The part where the heroine works in a Miliners is great – I did a C & G course for 2 years in Millinery and taught for a year – bought it all back! Wonderful…. Can’t wait to pick up again tonight. Thank you so much…[Read more]

I don’t know about you, but I hate throwing anything away in my sewing room. Snippets of thread, yarn, and fabric must have a useful purpose, but what do you do with them? Do you have uses for them, or do you find i…

UKQU BOOK CLUB 8 years, 1 month agoFrances,
I am hoping to announce the book at the beginning of each month (or just before); April was a bit later as I hadn’t expected the huge and immediate interest in a Book Club!!!
I am reading through a few different books at the moment, to make sure we get a variety of genres, but as soon as I’ve decided on the next one, there’ll be an…[Read more] -
