I know how you feel, these challenges have made me want to try to do more pieces like this. Love the way you’ve finished it, I think I’ll have to try facings next time
-
Thank you Jane – and sorry for the late reply. I really like facings as a way to finish pieces, I’ve not done them often, but they are a great way to finish a piece that has a wavy edge.

What a fabulous blog! Not only do you show us your sketchbook, but the detail, the different processes you used are truly inspiring! Thank you!

Thank you Maggie! Sorry for the late reply. It is starting to dawn on me that maybe I may be some kind of artist after all!

Brilliant that Carol was able to show the finished quilt to Carl from Panicos, it was lovely. I have Already read her Blog. Love your purchases. As a Moda designer I love Robin Pickins and have some of that range already on order from Shelagh Folgate at Moda Fabric Treasures. I will have to find Japan Crafts online because I love that charm pack with Shibori inspired fabric. I have already bought the ruler that Juliet Nice designed for UKQU but it will be interesting to see what you and Andy come up with in the future.

Oh the memories came flooding back! I learned to sew on one of these, so when I went to secondary school and was confronted by a hand wheel Singer, it was a real step down from hands free!
I remember Mum changing the leather belt. It lived in an alcove by the hearth, so it was always available if you just lifted off the cover. She would only ever use 40 thread, but ours was a Jones. You can get a fair old speed going and it is a most satisfying noise!
