It’s been a funny old time…and it still is a little bit strange. I’m sure that there are some of you out there who have managed to significantly reduce your stash, sewing for a range of causes out there. I have been…

So pretty! They would look gorgeous as log cabin block square centres, picking up the key shades from the embroidery in fabrics, too.
-
There’s an idea! I know that some people following the Stitch-Along have opted for this. As I want to do each block twice, I may decide to do log cabin for some of them.

Our July book is different to what we have been reading recently but I felt it was time for a more thought-provoking book, instead of yet another quilting mystery book.
This is one voice from the horrors that ended…

What was I thinking?
Words are really strange things. They have fixed meanings. We can look them up in a dictionary. But then suddenly they don’t mean what we think they do! Societal norms vary. We get “…

Nina wrote a new post, Stash busting idea – face masks 6 years, 1 month ago
So far this year all my blogs have been about stash busting or the UKQU Book Club. This time I am sharing another stash busting idea, and a timely one at that in this time of lockdown – face masks.
The medical e…

Good morning, Nina. Thank you for doing a mask test. With all the mask patterns around on the internet it is helpful to us all that you have road tested some of them and found a final two that you like. So far I have made three masks of different designs and dismissed all of them for one reason or another. I have to make 15 for the family so want to get it right before I go into production!
Which style did you finally choose after road testing them both, fitted or pleated?
My only concern about Paula’s pattern is that four layers may make the mask a bit hot to wear.

I know how you feel, these challenges have made me want to try to do more pieces like this. Love the way you’ve finished it, I think I’ll have to try facings next time
-
Thank you Jane – and sorry for the late reply. I really like facings as a way to finish pieces, I’ve not done them often, but they are a great way to finish a piece that has a wavy edge.

What a fabulous blog! Not only do you show us your sketchbook, but the detail, the different processes you used are truly inspiring! Thank you!

Thank you Maggie! Sorry for the late reply. It is starting to dawn on me that maybe I may be some kind of artist after all!
