I love the part of a quilt when I am hand stitching the binding on, sealing in the love I have put into every stitch in my quilt. I use wonder clips to keep my binding in place, they don’t stab me like pins do! I usually hand stitch my binding in the evenings. I get myself comfy and grab my binding kit. This useful kit holds all my wonder clips, scissors, thimble, favorite needles and a couple of spools of thread – all in one place! I don’t need to go searching for my clips or pair of scissors! I just grab the kit and I am all set to hand stitch.
The front of this kit features a fox with his nose pointed to the smells floating on the crisp autumn breeze. A lovely introduction to Inktense painting and hand stitchery. Inktense is a lot easier than it sounds and isn’t really about painting and being a good artist, it is more about having fun colouring in. This project is ideal for using up your scraps, so raid your scrap box!
A lovely quick project to make and would also make a lovely gift for any sewer.

I am a fibre artist and tutor who has been spinning, dyeing, sewing, knitting and crocheting for over 40 years.
I was taught to sew when I was 10 years old by my mother who was a professional dressmaker. She also taught me to knit, crochet and do needle work. I grew up in a family of women who filled their time with hand crafts for both work and pleasure.
In New Zealand I worked with adults with a learning disability (mainly autism and Downs Syndrome) to teach and support them to weave, spin, dye and knit articles which they sold in their local craft shop.I have also been an active member in several spinning guilds both in New Zealand and Northern Ireland
Here in Northern Ireland I have held workshops at Ulster Folk & Transport Museum for the local spinning guild. I have also tutored at local craft groups in knitting, quilting, sewing, crocheting and various other traditional crafts. I have demonstrated spinning at various sheep shows, primary schools and museum open days both in New Zealand and Northern Ireland. I have extensive experience working with younger people, older people and adults with a learning disability so I can tailor workshops to different groups such as community groups, local craft groups or social groups which may include people of various ages and abilities. Many of the workshops that I conduct are reviving skills of a bygone era, so taking part in one of the workshops is to ensure that the skills of the past are not forgotten and we can enjoy them again and pass them onto the next generation.
I create my own pattern designs. I sell my designs in both written & PDF form. My patterns are written for all levels of sewers and are supported with comprehensive instructions and diagrams so even the less experienced sewer can product a piece of art. My designs range from small to large items. I love to include applique (both blanket stitch and needle turn) and embroidery/redwork in my designs. My quilts reflect this in their designs and many are available as BOM (block of the month) patterns or you can purchase the set of monthly patterns in one purchase. I love to use the technique of painting with Inktense pencils on to fabric, alongside embroidery. I also design smaller projects from sewing accessories, wall hangings, table runners and cushions.
