I have been to Festival of Quilts (FOQ) once before, in 2017 with my friend Lynne and we had a good but rather hectic day.

Since then I have made friends with the lovely Carol from my local quilt group and Deb another longstanding friend, although not a quilter does like to have a look at all the lovely quilts that are at the shows.

Late last year I was speaking to Lynne and said that I wanted to go to FOQ again this year and was she up for it, she immediately said yes and said that Deb might want to go too, I also spoke to Carol who said yes she would love to go.

And so, the ‘FOQ Aug 2019’ WhatsApp group was born!

Once the tickets were purchased, less than 3 minutes after they went online, and the hotel rooms booked, the build-up excitement went into overdrive. We thought it would be a good idea for everyone to meet and get to know each other before we set off for our 2-day trip to FOQ. So, we organised a dinner one evening back in April for the four of us, unfortunately Lynne was ill so did not attend, but Deb and Carol got to know each other.

In June we organised an afternoon cream tea at a lovely local hotel and the sun was shining when the four of us pitched up and enjoyed the tea and had a good old ‘get to know you’ catch up.

Enjoying our afternoon tea

We sorted out our ‘tactics’ for the two days, what we planned on doing each day, particular purchases that we wanted, any fabrics that we were interested in etc and importantly, where we were going to have dinner!!!

It’s amazing just how much pre-planning goes into a girls trip for FOQ, hope you have all had fun planning your FOQ days too.

Roll on August….
