It has been a very long time since I last went to the quilt show at Malvern. So I took the opportunity to get a door to door lift from our son in law who could visit a relative living just around the corner from The Three Counties Showground.
We arrived just after opening time after a beautiful Autumn ride through the Cotswold countryside and I was delighted there was no queuing for tickets.

I went without a coat as I was hoping it would be warm enough inside, but I needn’t have worried as there was a cloakroom just inside the door to keep coats/bags.
I was handed a plan of exhibitors as I walked through the door, so I made my way to the cafe for a coffee (and of course, a bun) to check out the stands. The cafe was fairly full and noisy with over enthusiastic quilters chatting with their friends, but I just about managed to find a seat. The cafe prices are quite steep so I was pleased I had brought along a packed lunch.
With a few stands ticked on my floor plan I set off round the stands. It was fairly busy but not so busy that you couldn’t get to the stalls which was pleasant. I made a few mental notes of fabric favourites and headed to the quilts which was conveniently situated in the centre of the hall.
It was so lovely to see the familiar names of the UKQU quilters and to see the beautiful quilts that they had made…they do look so much better in the ‘flesh’ than in photos on the group pages…the attention to detail is outstanding. Here are a few of them…

And of course I caught up with Gulliver on his travels…

So much work goes into these stunning quilts and I am delighted to have the opportunity to share them with you.
Soon it was lunchtime so decided to venture outside to have a snack and take in the beauty of the Malvern Hills. They look even more beautiful with the low sun lighting up the peaks.

After a few purchases it was time to go home after a tiring day, I probably walked round the hall a dozen times but thoroughly enjoyed the show.
If you ever get the opportunity to visit Malvern you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks for that view of the UKQU quilts Lyn Butler. Recognise most of them from the previous competitions. A cornucopia of wonderful ideas and talent .
Thanks Teresa x
