“As could be expected everything is going different”
You better (re)think!
Its a year already… So much has changed. There nothing left to say: everybody has her own experiences with Covid…
Last year we thought, well, OK, not this year, but next year, we will. Just continue, right? Everything will turn out right. Right?
October 2020 I entered the Board of the Quiltfestival North-Groningen in the Netherlands. We were preparing for our next version, fors ure we could prepare for June 2021! Starting with the basics, working up from there…
Until we had to face the facts, start this year. There is a Dutch organisation called “Rethink”. They are stimulating a new way of thinking with excellent quotes. One of them is “Rethinking starts with facing the facts. Which is the hardest step.”
Yet again: no physical Festival North-Groningen! We were a little sad, a little tired and we were bummed out that we had to sent yet another terrible message into the world.
Until we realised we could go virtual. All sorts of questions occured: “How do we do that? We are not at all technical! Will the exhibitors cooperate?” Questions like that. After the array of questions came the ideas. What can you do virtually?
Our ideas just splashed out of our heads! We all became happy and energetic. Like you can read in the next quote from Rethink: “A pessimist sees a problem in every chance. An optimist sees a chance in every problem!”
As off that day, in early Febrary, we meet every Sunday fora n hour. On Zoom, off course!
We started with the basics: first things first! What has priority?
“Do you want to go quick? Go alone! Do you want to go far? Go together!”
In the meantime we are halfway into March. Three months to go.
Our exhibitors are cooperating: from starting artists to renowned names from the Netherlands and foreign countries. We have artists offering workshops, free and payed. Shopowners are cooperating: with just a click with your mouse they are offering the best prices and special offers! We’ve got movies, intervieuws, a live opening, live presentations and a beautiful view on the landscape off North-Groningen.
A technical team will take care off our every wish: everything we thought we wanted is possible and even more… absolutely fabulous!

We are happy to invite you to enter a quilt. The quilts will be judged by an expert jury! We are inviting children and teenagers too to join!!! The agecategories are tob e found on the website.
Personally I get really happy that we as a board are getting a real boost of organising this for you. Every week things get done: every week we have more points of action that are taken care of the next week. We are dividing our tasks en are SO looking forward tot he moment where all puzzlepieces fall together…Or should I speak of quiltpatches???
