I received a Sewline Fabric Glue pen to review. The pen arrived in a clear plastic package which also included a handy glue refill.
The pen is a nice size and easy to use. The glue stick its self is a blue colour and the glue was visible once on the fabric. When the glue gets low you just twist the top of the pen and it brings more glue to the top.
I tried out the glue pen on some EPP hexagons. I firstly applied a small dot of glue to the centre of my fabric. This enabled the paper template to stay in place. I then applied a small amount of glue to each edge of the fabric and folded it over the edge of the paper template.
Using the glue stick compared to the traditional method of tacking the fabric was certainly quicker and gave very good results. Even when the glue had been applied a few days previously.
Once sewn together removing the paper template was straight forward, you lifted off the fabric off the paper template and removed the paper. You could then reuse your papers.
I was impressed with this product and can see that it would be a time saving tool to have in my sewing room. Although i only tested it on an EPP project, I can see that using the glue stick on other small projects where pins would get in the way For example putting in a small zip would be an advantage.
I would recommend the Sewline glue pen, especially for EPP and hand applique.
