In January 2018 we set a challenge to the Six Administrators of UK Quilters United to choose their favourite quilts from those posted by the Facebook Group members during January.
The six chosen are now part of our February Competition and the details of how to enter are at the bottom of this post.
We have asked each Quilt Owner to tell the story of their quilt so you can learn more about their journey.
This is the story of Tara’s Quilt
Tara used the Black Birds pattern by Sew Fresh Quilts. The birds are Thicket by Moda, the beaks and binding are Grunge by Moda and the background is a Moda mottled grey. The quilting is beautifully done with feathers surrounding the birds.
I asked Tara why this quilt? She said “It’s only my fifth quilt and my first attempt at anything more than charm squares or a jelly roll. I choose the pattern because I have a pet parrot thought it was so eye catching and would be a challenge from pre-cuts I had always done before. The pattern was always going to be selfish sew for me It was really fun to make (with a few naughty words here and there when the unpicked came out!). I thought I had done really well until I realised I had squared one of the birds up wrong. I wonder if anyone can see the bird that was out drinking with his friends the in night before?”
Nice Shoes too Tara!
It’s a fabulous quilt and you can vote for it in Competition Corner
