Well, it is April already! This month I have decided to use the fabric that I made when testing the Twisted Pinwheel Template by ‘Crafty-UK’ for the Product Review.

Requirements:
Front Fabric with the Twisted Pinwheel design 18″ x 18″ Piece of backing fabric 18″ x 18″ Piece of Wadding the same size as above Backing fabric with the smaller Twisted Pinwheel appliqued on 18″ x 18″ 18″ zip to blend or contrast with the main fabric
I used the 5” template for the front and then used the 2.4” template for the back, making use of the scraps of fabric left over from the front.

I placed the front and backing fabric together with the wadding in between, pinning it together through all three layers and quilted round the design on the sewing machine.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough fabric to make the back portion in one piece, so I inserted the zip a few inches down from the top.

After the zip was put in, using a zipper foot, I then placed the zipped fabric face down on the quilted front and sewed all 4 layers together with a half inch seam. To make sure the fabric doesn’t fray I overlocked all around the edges.
I turned the cushion the right way and inserted the polyester cushion squab. Cushion covers are very simple to make, and you can either buy the inserts, very cheaply, or even make your own with polyester wadding in a cotton cover.

Lovely cushion Sue.
Thank you Ruth
