Today should have seen the next instalment in my Modern Quilt series but, as you may have guessed from the title, it isn’t!
The last week seems to have passed in a blur with a trip to IKEA for bedroom furniture, new studio arrangements and the such. With the girls heading back to school I thought I would be in for a more settled time but that has not happened.
What I did want to talk about today is the utter kindness, generosity and downright loveliness of quilters. This week, with my longarm studio up and functioning, I have been able to longarm quilt two tops for Quilts for Care Leavers, click here and here to read more about it.. I do a certain number of charity quilts each year as a way of paying it forward and because we all know how comforting a quilt can be. Little did I know that I would be reaching out to the Bloggerati community myself mid week with a request for fabric for some quilts.
The responses came thick and fast and one lady even offered to make a whole quilt for me – I could have cried! In fact, who am I kidding, there have been tears in my eyes a lot this week. So I am going to be busy making quilts for children who are in desperate need of the comfort and warmth they bring.
