I love cats. I think a lot of quilters do.
I used to have one: my Tiger, who had to go to another hooman because of my severe allergy.
No need to say I cried my eyes out while coughing because of the pneumonia…
After dear Tiger moved away, I noticed there where benefits. The pneumonia went away, we didn’t have to arrange for a sitter when we went off to our holidays, and I didn’t need to discuss the presence of a cat on my feet in bed to DH.
But there where also downsides. I missed the company and the sillyness of Tiger. I missed the cuddling, and the presence of a cat at my feet in bed…
Two years ago, our neighbours got a sweet little babykitty. And I saw that big man of mine falling in love head over heels. So he started giving her little cups of coffeemilk early mornings. I was not supposed to do that, Mrs Mouse wanted her own hooman. When spring came, we drank our coffee in the morning in the garden. Mrs. Mouse came sitting in between us, and demanded cuddles. I loved it, DH even more 🙂
And off course, she started to enter our home. Which was not allowed, end ended up with serious waterspraying… She kept trying, with an expression on her face saying, why, hooman? I live here! Don’t you know that? So last summer, we added a screendoor to our gardendoor.
No more illegal pussycat in the room.
This spring, Mrs. Mouse had a litter of the sweetest little kittens in the world. One was kept, the others were adopted. And look who loves her?!

Sweet isn’t she? Miss Baby Mouse… He is, too 🙂
But… she is one naughty and curious cutypie, too!
That screendoor? Who cares. She just crawls underneath it and enters her new home. I just laughed SO hard that I scared her. DH did the same. So, the waterspraying started again. And mummy helped a little, too.

Don’t go there, baby! The hoomans will make you wet! But mom! We live there, you know! No baby, don’t. Oww…. Meeuwww!
Well. We needed to find a solution. And since we bought new pillows for our bed, I had a luminous idea!
A doorpillow!

Miss Baby Mouse is not able to pass it. She tried, though. And mom doesn’t understand. Doesn’t she look sad?

Why hooman!!!
Well, because you are not able to raise your baby!
And I must say, I really like the result!

The four sides are all in different fabrics.

You can lift it with the handles.
And it lifts up our doorway with those gorgeous bright Kaffe Fassettfabrics!
I am happy!
Miss Baby Mouse, however, is not…
Love, Hilda
