As our beautiful summer comes to an end, my thoughts turned to chilly nights and cozying up by the fire.

Some one posted a beautiful panel on UKQU Facebook, and thinking this would make a quick quilt I quickly researched where to purchase and was lucky to find one. As you can see it unsurprisingly sold out very quickly.

I really wanted the luxury feel of fleece to back it and was thrilled to pick up this from a local supermarket.

I was warned by fellow quilters that it wouldn’t be very good and that it sheds it’s fur. I washed it first and hung it out on a windy day. None of the fur was shedding at all so I proceeded to make up the quilt top.

It needed a border, and a friend suggested half square triangles to make up as ‘butterflies’.

I found a perfect stash pack with all the stunning rainbow colours that went well with the panel.

I also hunted for the perfect butterfly batik for the border…

My intention was to be brave and try and free motion quilt it but found the fleece didn’t want to play, so quickly resorted to machine quilting using some wiggly embroidery stitches.

I love the quilting effect on the fleece too…and it really does feel very luxurious.

I am very pleased with the result…c’mon then winter I’m ready for you🤣
