I’ve come up with the marvellous idea that I can get my nephews quilt done as a xmas present, sounds quite simple says my other half (who has no clue what I’m doing). I’ve completed the top of the quilt, added borders and layered it with the help of a few of the ladies from my local quilting group.

I researched ways to hand quilt this piece to highlight the pattern and feel of the quilt. I decided to quilt along a few of the colours following the pattern of the quilt. After three days my poor fingers were sore so I needed a few days off. During this time I discovered that by using a piece of embroidery thread I was able to make out the center line of each square.

So fingers rested it’s time to get on with this mammoth task as the Christmas countdown begins. The quilting is moving along nicely, my poor finger tips are feeling it. I’m just trying to do twenty minutes then having a rest for a while. Once the quilting was finished I spent a day deciding whether to add stars to the borders to break up borders as I’m terrible at making decisions I asked several people who decided it was better without. Finally the binding to add!

I’ve also remembered I’ve got a couple of other items I need to finish for xmas gifts for other family members too!

Such lovely movement in this quilt. I could not even contemplate all that hand quilting myself. Well done!
