And its back! PANICO’s Fabric Store is back and opened in a new space in the Pavilion Shopping Centre Thornaby (TS17 9FD) just a few miles from its original home in Stockton-on-Tees. Earlier in the year many of the UK Quilters United Facebook group members were shocked to hear of the closure of yet another outlet so it’s great news for all quilters, knitters and dressmakers in that area and for the retail industry in general.
You may know from my previous blogs that I always visit PANICO’s when I visit my daughter and her family, so you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I popped along on Friday to check out the new store. It easy to find using my sat nav, not far off the A19 and free parking for 3 hours (no need to put your details into a ticket machine either- even better).
Whilst you don’t see a store front for PANICO’s itself, just look for the MICROSHOPS big window, head through the door and you will see some STAIRS on the RIGHT. Head up there and that’s where you will find PANICO’s.
The shop is spacious and airy and it’s beginning to fill up with lovely fabric, wadding, Janome Sewing Machines and a whole host of everything a quilter, dressmaker or knitter will need with new stock arriving on a regular basis. Check out PANICO’s Facebook or Instagram page for regular updates. If you follow them on Facebook, you’ll get updates direct to your feed.
Here is just a selection of what you can find when you get there:
QUILTING FABRIC (and DRESSMAKING fabrics):
Yardage, Fat Quarters, Jelly Rolls/Strips etc.
A huge selection of WADDING/INTERFACING:
Thinking about buying a new SEWING MACHINE? STOCKISTs for JANOME & ELNA…… Ask about servicing your machine too.
SEWING NOTIONS and Knitting Accessories
Lots of Thread, Zips, Ribbons, Braid, Pins, Clasps, Knitting Needles, Crochet Hooks, Cutting mats, etc, etc.
And if KNITTING is your thing ~ check this out …. (there’s more in store!)
So, did I buy some fabric? Of course, I did! With fabric names such as Michael Miller, Riley Blake and Lori Holt and many more at very reasonable prices who can resist? I’ll be heading over again next time I visit the area, I’ve already put fabric on my Christmas list so hopefully my children are listening!
Carl’s knowledge of the industry in phenomenal so if you can’t find what you’re looking for – ask, and I’m sure if he can get it for you, he will. Send them a message and you’ll always get a reply.
If you live in the Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington areas, why not pop along and check out ‘what’s in store’ and support your local retail outlet. Keep a look out for details of classes PANICO’s will be offering and if you have any ideas of what you would like them to be just send them a message.
Happy Sewing (and Knitting) everyone.
