Excitement was growing as the date for our ukqu retreat was drawing near.  It’s  a couple of years since we all met up and could hardly believe it was going to happen.I learnt of a spare ticket so offered it to a new friend who I got to know from the Mini Quilt Swap and was looking forward to meeting her there.

All packed the night before…will I ever get to sleep…have I got everything?

The day arrived and we had a lovely drive to Hillscourt in Birmingham taking in all the gorgeous autumn colours of the trees and picking up my quilt buddy along the way.

We eventually arrived and set up our work stations. It was so lovely greeting everyone as they drifted in during the day. Like me they were so happy to return to some sort of normality.

On everyone’s table was a gorgeous gift of fabrics from Craft Cotton Co. Many thanks to them.

I had brought some projects to plough into but first needed to join these lovely blocks together for a charity quilt. Thankyou to my patchwork friends for your contributions…it will be a cosy ‘hug’ for a lucky careleaver.

I wondered round during the weekend and took some pics…

Candy’s diamond wedding quilt.

Cheryl’s  Rainbow quilt

Carol’s Crumb quilt

Sylvia’s Blue quilt

We even had a Secret Santa of homemade gifts…this was my lucky dip…

We all enjoyed the fabulous weekend of great food…great sewing…and great company.

The couple of days passed so quickly and all good things come to an end…but I have lasting memories, especially the girls singing along to Queen on the radio..Bohemian Rhapsody will stay with me forever..magic!

This is a little gift I made from the cute fabrics from Cotton Craft…

If you ever get a chance to go on a sewing retreat I can thoroughly recommend it…do it!
