I was lucky enough to be able to review some of these beautiful fabrics. They not only look good, they are lovely to work with.

They are part of a much wider range and if you shop around you can get them for £18.50 for 5 FQ. The range is also available as a Charm pack and fabric roll as well as by the metre. There are also some cute buttons that match.

I  had a look at the Tilda website for inspiration – There are a load of free patterns on the site many of which I would love to make! (Just take a look at the quilting its absolutely stunning!).

These are the fabrics I had to work with

I have needed a bag to take to classes for sometime – to replace the “bag for life” I usually end up using so when I saw the summer bag I decided to make that. https://www.tildasworld.com/summer-bag/

The pattern is easy and went together really quickly – the biggest challenge was getting the layout right as the fabric is directional and each side has to be the right way up!

The fabric for the bag is constructed in the same way as any quilt – pieced together and then quilted. I used my favourite walking foot quilting pattern – wavy lines. I like this pattern as it gives movement, is very easy and seemed appropriate for a fabric line called Cotton Beach. I quilted quite densely to give the bag more structure.

The bag handles are also padded with a little wadding and I lined the bag in a plain dark turquoise from my stash.

The fabric was a joy to work with – although slightly more expensive than some other fabrics I can say that it is worth every penny – I am already planning some dresses for my soon to arrive granddaughter.

I am pleased with the finished item – It is a very big bag so plenty of room to take along all those fabrics I might just need!
