Hi Everybody!! Where does the time go? Hard to believe I’m sat here writing this on New Years Day 2024! Hope you’ve all had a fabulous 2023 patchwork and quilting?
It wouldn’t be New Year for me if I didn’t have a new Mystery Quilt BOM (block of the month) due to start this month, so I’d like to introduce to you my latest creation – Hare it is!
I spent quite a bit of 2023 trundling about the country teaching and presenting and judging and designing as I went. Whilst in Scotland, in a wonderful little log-cabin, we (Paul/hubby and I) were treated to the most amazing interaction with a Hare. Every day it would appear out the front of the cabin, busily munching on the lush grass about. It would hop right up to our decking area, munch a bit and hop on around the side, then the back and then off into the woods beside us. I followed the hare, from inside, photos, videos, more photos, close ups, cleaning its self and munching more for about an hour at a time. How did I ever manage without a mobile phone with camera before?!
Hares have always been a bit mythical to me, only ever having seen 1 pair before – boxing – how lucky was that?! That was here, locally in Cornwall. So many have designed ‘Hare stuff’ ahead of me, I feel a bit humble about my offering, but its a genuine Abbieanne.

I toyed with the idea of calling the quilt ‘Heather & Hare’ because of the fabric colours I’ve chosen, but then realized that it wouldn’t really work with peoples own fabric choices?
The general gist of the design. without giving too much away – plenty of traditional piecing. Embroidery or applique Hares – or both if you fancy? Approx finish with a border is 66″ x 54″
This quilt-along will last 6 months, each month you’ll receive full sized paper patterns, a how-to with lots of colour photos to help you along the way. There will be a private group on Facebook for those taking part to show photos and ask questions in private, keeping the mystery a mystery until we’ve made.
Sign up for 3 months at a time, I also have a limited stock of kits, using the same fabric choice as I have, all available from my shop www.abbieanne.com
If you choose to use your own fabrics, you can just sign up for patterns each month and I’ll get a requirements list to you..
The sample will be off to Ambleside Quilting very shortly to be long-armed, can’t wait to see the finish!!!
As ever, best wishes All
Be Lovely!!! Abbie xxx
