Hi Fiona, There are a few of us LA quilters that are also bloggers on the site that would be more than happy to answer any questions you have regarding FMQ. I like many started quilting on my domestic machine. If you would like to see a blog om FMQ please feel free to ask.

Hi
Check out the Blogger Central .. there are already one or two long arm specialists posting regular blogs on there, plus keep an eye out in the hints and tips section. We will let our team know this is of interest. -

There are a good few Professional quilters on the site and who are doing blogs so I would think there will be plenty of information on ‘how to’ on this topic. I certainly intend to address it.

On the members page it would be good to be able to actually able to search members by name. There is a search bar on the page, but it is for the site in general not for members. Or alternatively you could have letters under the sort by box, so you can at least start from the letter your looking for. Hope that makes sense?

Hi Yolly
we are working to add this improvement to the search functions at the moment

An About page would be really useful to help people understand the purpose of the site, how it differs from the Facebook site (and partners with it), and also who is responsible for the website (credibility).

Hi – it all looks fantastic, and I’m sure you will iron out any wrinkles in time – One factual error – Strawberry Fayre in Chagford has ceased trading and closed down due to retirement after 40 years.

Thanks for the comment Chris. We will ask our bloggers to take up this challenge.

An index page to the blogs may be useful. They’re easy to navigate at the moment but not sure how it will look when the bloggers make additional postings. They all look wonderful.

Question for Admin – would it be possible to put our Quilting Group onto the website under groups. We have our own website and I would like to connect to this one if possible please. It would also give other members who live in our area the chance to come along and join our group. Thanks Sue Davey

Hi. How do I contact you as I ordered 2 UKQU badges but have only received one.

Hi
You need to speak direct ot the seller about missed orders, and in this case its Juliet Nice. She can be found on UK Quilters United FB Page, or send her a PM from her shop on here.

I would love to see someone compare some of the different waddings available, with photos. The photos on here are so clear we could get a sense of the difference between them unlike the photos on shop sites where they all look the same. I know it’s a very personal choice but I would find it interesting.

Having opened a shop on the website last night, I’m thrilled to see that I’ve already had a few downloads (after all the patterns are for free, and we all love that!). Looking in my Seller’s Dashboard, all of the orders are listed as ‘Processing’. Shouldn’t this automatically be set to Completed, Processed, Done or something similar? After all the pdf is automatically available to the purchaser?

Hello, enjoying the site, couple of ‘things’. I find it loads very slowly for me. I have slow broadband but I’ve compared it to other sites and it seems to be site related. Probably too vague for you to help at all so my next question is – can you do anything about identifying each bloggers post to them? They’re great but I am trying to follow just a few (I should be sewing not reading!) and as more and more are added finding the ones that are particularly interested in to see if they have written new posts seems to be getting complicated. Now this might be me as I am not yet used to the format and how things work. How do I ‘follow’someone and get their updates? Thanks

I seem to gravitate to the blogs but would appreciate a name or pseudonym at the head of each so I know whose blog I am reading. At the moment it is difficult to continue reading a blog I have found I like and is a bit of a ‘lucky dip’!

The blogs are my favourite part of the site so far. I too would like to easily see which blog belongs to which blogger. At the moment we have to select & skim each one to find who & what they are.

I have a suggestion, I am unable to find a comprehensive, up to date list of charities requiring help with anything from hearts, to quilts. We are often referred to joining other FB groups in respect of this, but I think UKQU should have its own current comprehensive resource/list.

Give members the ability to edit – or add to any comment they make. (Predictive can be unforgiving)
😳 Oh just noticed I can edit this current post on this section, but unable to edit/add to a previous post or comment on a blog!

With the growing dissatisfaction with social media platforms, such as Facebook, harvesting users data etc.
Will UKQU consider creating a site forum. This way all of the discussion groups could be managed/moderated inhouse.
Building a decent searchable knowledge base for UKQU rather than relying on a faceless data mining SM enterprise who
are in control to host UKQU groups.PS Formatting eg wordwrap is terrible on comments sitewide.

Great idea, the forum already exists, new subject threads can be set up anytime, not sure it could replace Facebook as that serves a specific purpose but an additional place for views and help would be quite simple to set up.
We already have a knowledge base on the site, but it could do with more input, if anyone wants to help out then feel free to send in additions.

Hi, thank you to the website team for all you do. I would like to see a flagged map of where groups meet, or at least a county index. Thank you.
I echo those above in wanting to know who’s blog I am reading at the head of the column.

Hi, the blog authors are displayed on the front tile along with the date, this was added a while ago, the author is also displayed at the end of each blog page. Unless there is something we missed?

I’ve just had a look through the groups and see that the majority seem to be to do with Skype and have only one member; what is that about?!

sorry for the lack of response … the spammers were removed some time ago. Unfortunately since we rarely get comments here its not checked regularly enough, but I hope you can see the issue is resolved. If you do have any issues its often better to raise a ticket as those are checked afre more regularly.

I really find this site difficult , such a shame as if more people participated I am sure it would be buzzing. The regional groups have hardly any members, such a shame. I can never find the book of the month in the book club. So many of us on Facebook and am sure we’d all be on here as well if it was simpler to use.

I agree with Lesley Wright; it has just taken me ages to find her post, and I cannot even respond directly to her! Nobody answered my query of 3rd October, so I suspect this will all get the same answers!

Sad isn’t it Linda ? it’s almost like a dead site but there is lots of potential for so much. Perhaps there is too much content therefor putting people off. It’s disjointed and so difficult to go from one thing to another smoothly. Replying on forums being a valid illustration.

Certainly is, Lesley! It would be nice if someone from the management responded, at least!

Hi Linda and Lesley,
Apologies, but we rarely check the forum. How remiss of us! Our day job really has been taking over lately, so the best way to raise any issues is to raise a ticket as we are monitoring that much more closely. You can see the Group issue with spammers was resolved relatively quickly too once we were aware of it. time wasters of the worst degree I am sure you will agree.
However, with regard to the bookclub and indeed all of the groups, these are complimentary groups for the owners of the individual groups to administer, so perhaps you may garner a response by a direct approach to them. I will raise matters with Arlene for you however with regard to the book club.
We do administer the website, this is around our spare time on a voluntary basis and we really do work hard to keep the content fresh and ideas moving.
I hope you are entering the competitions .. the November Quilt Competition is still open for entries and someone will win the Fantastic Janome 8200 QCP which will be announced early next month!
Kind regards
Sylvia -

So this page seems redundant! I agree with Lesley that it is difficult to navigate the site and frustrating when you arrive at a group or forum and find it is ‘dead’. I had joined a couple of the groups, but I left them as nothing was happening, ( and I did provide input where asked).
