In complete contrast to our first Sew a Row, FIRE will appear in hot pursuit.

We asked a new group from the Bloggerati to work on this idea.   Ruth Garner, Sue Burford, Jane Galley, Chris Hutchins and Carol Munroe created this hot little number.

Both ICE and FIRE will be displayed at the 2018 Festival of Quilts, on the British Patchwork and Quilting Magazine Stand , for you all to see the intricacy of the work.

FIRE will appeal to those who like something warmer over the winter months perhaps.  Here’s a close up of one of the blocks.

Week by week the individual designers will reveal their hints and tips for their individual row, and the full pattern and instructions will appear  here online for you to download for free. We are hoping you will show off your interpretations and colourways over at the UK Quilters United Facebook Group once they are complete.

Remember you can rearrange the rows how you like them, and choose your own colours too. Embellish or not and quilt how you prefer. You might like raw edge applique, but if you add the appropriate seam allowance to the patterns then some lend themselves to needle turn too if that’s your thing. EPP and block patchwork feature but you might want to try a different colour scheme altogether.  There are no rules .. this is patchwork and quilting after all!

Week one is starting with Sue Burford’s  lovely Court Steps pattern so take a trip across to her blog now to discover which is her row, and you will find the first row pattern and instructions available in the Fire and Ice section for download.

Can you guess who created which row .. and who the finisher was. All will be revealed over the coming weeks.
