I think by now most of you have seen the novelty of clips to hold your fabric together instead of the pins. I have tried the ordinary clips and I guess it’s just a matter of a habit or preference.
But then I was in…

Every so often I come through the door at the end of a busy day to find a little parcel quietly waiting on the worktop for me. Sometime’s there is just a number and a postcode on the parcels, sometimes a little add…

Thank you writing this Sylvia, it’s good to know that a little stitch can go a long way

I am making the hearts for a friend who is Sister working in the neonatal unit in Sheffield. She says it really helps the bond between baby and mother especially when baby is too poorly to be held at all.
-
I have donated so many of these, some made by me and other sent to me, to Scunthorpe Hospital. They are so quick to make too.

Of course I don’t mine you advertising my free Developmental Hearts pattern, Sylvia! I put this pattern in the shop because I have had such a buzz helping with some of the projects you talk about, and because I heard someone say they thought squares might be easier than hearts (they aren’t – so please do download the pattern and give the hearts a go).

Heartwarming read. Thank you.

Cushion and Quilt from Recycled Shirts
One of the questions I was asked recently was whether patchwork and quilting was expensive. As with everything we do, it’s up to us. It can be very expensive but, on th…

Thanks for the article Jane, I love your shirt cushion and quilt, I have a few shirts in my stash and this may help me find my lost sewing mojo.
My first ever quilt was a rag quilt made with used denim jeans on the front and sweatshirts on the back using QAYG squares no wadding needed. My 6th quilt was made using the leftover strips from the same Jeans, and my leftover scraps of wadding sewn together, and backing was a piece of recycled flannel sheet.
Both are well loved by recipients. With so much waste in the world we should all endeavour to return to reusing and make a few recycled fabric quilts.

Karen, that’s lovely. I did a denim throw for one of my boys, it was made from all the jeans they’d finally grown out of or were too worn to wear. It took years to collect all the pieces and they moaned every time I pinched a pair of jeans, but it is well loved and used by them and all their friends. If you get your sewing mojo back, please do share your photos

I love the stained glass pieces – and looking at your blog has given me ideas as for the layout of photos on mine! It also reminds me that I really need to get on and finish a few more things; I feel a bit like Flynn Carson (in The Librarian films and series) – loads of PHDs – so much time, so little to do – no wait, strike that – reverse it! (Film reference there – but which film?!)

Not seen this before, Lyn your work is fantastic!! Well done! I know this was a while ago and have no doubt your work is even better now! Love it!

Thanks John
