What a clever and effective idea, to make placemats. Now you just have to remember where you store them for Christmas!

I started going to the Festival of Quilts in 2002. I have only missed 1 year, health issues. Absolutely love the Show and have exhibited there. Keep up the good work xx

I’d love be a volunteer one year. Not this year as a friend from Australia has organised her holiday in Europe so we can visit the FOQ together. We will enjoy our day together admiring all the wonderful quilts and all your hard work….but maybe next year.

What fun fabric and such an innovative use for them! Visiting relatives in Hannover in May, might need to make them a London based present as a memory of a great visit to London last year.

My quilting group had a speaker who was a Volunteer at Festival of Quilts.
It was fascinating all the behind the scenes work that goes into making this a fantastic show for us.
I have a quilting friend in Australia who comes over for it Every Year!

Much to my shame, I have thought very little about the hard work in producing the show. I had my first visit last year and loved it.

If bloggers on the UKQU site are not prevented or disallowed from entering the draw for tickets, I would love a pair of tickets because it is the first time it hasn’t clashed with the Fairport Convention Cropredy Music Festival.

I would love the chance to win tickets. I’ve been on a no-spend for nearly a year now and this would be a fab way of working round my ban.

Very interesting interview. I would have assumed it was a quieter organising it but clearly not!

A really clear and interesting post, Abigail, which highlights how you chose the most effective fabrics for this modern style. Choosing fabrics is something so many people struggle with!

This is a great blog, it was well written and easy to understand. I’ve only been quilting for 2 years and sometimes the ‘jargon ‘ just throws me. I look forward to the next part

The addition of the plain grey material was a masterstroke, really brings focus to the main fabrics.
