SUNPRINTS 2020 BY ALISON GLASS

Just look at what dropped in to my letterbox

Bright, vibrant, delicious fabric. By Makeover UK the designer Alison Glass.

Not a designer I was familiar with so took myself off to Makeover site to see how as a designer she was inspired.

She is inspired by and I quote

“Alison is inspired by the multitude of details in the world, both natural and those made by Artison’s, particularly in urban architecture. She is passionate about ideas of making choices that are consistent with the person she is, being increasingly, comfortable with ambiguity and continuing to move forward and live in the new.”

Alison has designed many fabrics but this one is inspiring, and does remind me of summer. Consisting of 3 different patterns each with nine colour ways.

The first one MEMAGERIE is like a cross stitch pattern and I have chosen this one to test the quality and its ability to cross over different crafts. This turned out to be a fabric full of body and colour, cuts great

This bag is constructed on the embroidery machine and has many cuts close to the stitching this fabric was

fabulous it didn’t fray. I was able to use all nine colours each complimenting the other.

Both of the other fabrics have great designs.

The second one STITCHED has flowers and quilting designs. One which I will use to do my favourite way to quilt, FMQ, the design lends itself to be traced around and will make great cushions, table runners and blocks for our quilts. This also has nine great colour ways.

The last design EMBROIDERY is also traceable for quilting and consists of everyday objects so you can also fussy cut to add to your quilts or applique, the fact that this fabric has little if no fraying is a great bonus it has great body.

My over all impression is that this fabric has great colourways and will stand up well as a plain blenders for borders and sashing. Great for embroidery and applique, cushions quilts and quilting. My guess it would also do great in dressmaking where a cotton is required, fabulous fabric well done Alison Glass and Makeover UK.
