We promised to keep our members here at the website and facebook up to date with what’s happening at FOQ and watching all the comments at UK Quilters one of the biggest questions is safety during this year’s extraordinary situation.
Hotels are cancelling at last minute leaving many people ‘roomless’ for the event period – check via the Festival of Quilts website as they are listing local hotels to try if this happens to you.
We asked the organisers of the event what they are doing to reassure everyone it will be a safe environment for their visitors and help reduce contact – if you have been before you will remember there are times it can get very busy, especially around the trader stalls. If you are wanting to visit on a single day then they suggest considering Sunday 1st August, which traditionally has been their quietest day.
They told us they will still have good social distancing measures in place with wider aisles to increase the room to move around. Wandering around the beautiful quilt displays if often less of a crush than the trader aisles can be so spread your time whilst you are there and enjoy the best of shopping along with the glorious efforts of the exhibitors (and remember .. don’t touch!).
Of course all this available on the four days the event is on, and there are workshops happening all the time.

We have already reported on the current advice for visitors to the event, but keep checking back at their own website for any last minute changes. We will aim to update you regularly here if anything else happens, but remember ultimately you need to look at the Festival of Quilts website for the detail.
If you are visiting yourself take lots of pictures and share them with the Facebook pages – and remember to mention who made the quilt you feature – but above anything go and enjoy the joy of glorious quilts and textiles, and possibly the biggest gathering of fabric and similar traders in one place.
