Hello Everyone,
My name is Lorrayne and I am a ‘Shopkeeper’ please be gentle with me as this is my first blog. My husband Jeff and I own Oh Sew Sweet in Barnsley, South Yorks which is a relatively new venture for us. Having become a bit jaded with the corporate life over 4 years ago we decided to take that leap of faith into self-employment.
My business idea crystallized when on a visit to see my mother-in-law in France and she invited me to attend her local quilt group in Carhaix-Plouguer. So off I trotted to a little hut in this quaint French village where 12 ladies from all over the world were laughing, chatting, sharing and caring whilst merrily sewing away…I was hooked and my journey began. Back at Mother-in-Laws she took me to her ‘Stash Shed’ where I loaded up my suitcase with fabric and left my clothes behind! The rest they say is history.
Me and the Hubby, Jeff

Over the next few months I would like to share with you all the highs and lows of being a Quilt Shop Owner as it isn’t just about stroking lovely fabrics all day. Come and join us, me and the hubby on this journey where we will share our insights and some of the day-to-day running of our business…Oh and what it is like to work with your other half I promise it will be interesting!
