Thank you for inviting me to introduce myself and join this awesome group.

I’m married to an amazing man who helps care for me. I have chronic asthma and arthritis so some days are better than others. We have two daughters and two amazing grandkids.

I retired from nursing early to care for my elderly parents, unfortunately both now are gone from this life but remain in my heart forever.

I started sewing in secondary school but my mum used to make all our clothes so I’ve been around sewing all my life. Whilst working I didn’t have much time to sew but I picked it up again in 2000 when I was in an EPP 1” hexie swap group, swapping flowers with some amazing people around the world. I’ve pieced together all my flowers to make a king size quilt which still needs quilting. The plan now is to tie it together.

The first quilt I made was for my dad, it was a tumbling block pattern which he had on his bed everyday until he passed away in 2018. My mums was the second one which I did with larger hexie on and also did her a jelly roll one with hearts Applique on.

Since then I’ve made quilts for most of the extended family.

I love FPP for the accurate seams you get. Recently trying out creating my own.

In April this year I was encouraged to start my own youtube channel called You&meFPP

It’s still early days as I get over my nerves recording myself. I’ve been advised to add short videos to the list as it reaches out to different people (or so I’ve been told). I’m working at the moment on a bookcase staircase quilt top, using a detective series of patterns I’ve designed myself. I have no rush to get this done as don’t need it until August next year.
