It is that time of year again, when the festival of quilts opens its doors to this year’s quilting entry requests. I have been considering entering for a while now. However, the biggest issue for me is my health and time concerns.

I have been going to the Festival for a few years now, apart from over the pandemic. I have seen all manner of quilts and quilt sizes. I realised that mine does not have to be big to be an entry.
The only decision facing me now is which category I wish to enter.

I have narrowed it down to two, Miniature Quilts and Sustainable Quilts, the latter of which is a new category this year.
As of yet I have not decided which category I wish to enter and which my work would be suitable for. I am mulling around a few ideas. One to do with “Hidden Pain” and the other to with “The Self: a Collection of Conditions”. I got this idea from the work I have recently produced for The Stitchbook Collective.

So far all I have are the concepts and images in my head. I need to interpret these into designs and test them out. Constructing test pieces with the material I have already. This in turn will give me a better idea of the category I aim to enter into.
